Killer7 gameplay

An odd little game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture, who also worked on the No More Heroes games. Praised for it's style, the game-play unfortunately suffers from the same dissociative identity disorder as the main character.

You play as a hit-man with 7 personalities. Each personality brings something special to table in terms of skills and weapons. You're sent into a building for your latest job. The control scheme is unlike anything I've played before, and the atmosphere is unsettling. Your character is on a rail system, so you simply press X to run forward, then choose which way you want to go when you reach a junction. When you come across invisible enemies, you press and hold R1 to go into 1st person mode, and perss L1 to do a scan so you can see who's coming at you. Reloading your weapon is done with the flick of the right analog stick. You also can't move when you're shooting. This adds tension as your foes start baring down on you.

There's also a puzzle element where you have to find objections and use them with other devices. There's also an upgrade system using blood you collect from your fallen foes. The blood is also used to heal yourself and perform special attacks, adding some strategy as to what you want to use the blood for.

So it all sounds great, but where it falls apart is that there's a lot of retracing steps, it starts to feel slow and tedious, and there's way too many load screens. Leave a room, load, go down the hall an through a door, load, down some steps, load, and through another door, load. You can see this in the video. I did shortened some of the load times, because some are quite lengthy when you consider how frequent they are.
